what positon do I need to tell the transmission shop to put the shift lever on side of the transmission (Im going to use the original shifter)

The C-4 I have in my 55 has the arm at the 9 o clock position and a original rod was used with no modifications,I think the arm in the AOD will only go in two positions like the other trans so look at the trucks and vans for one that is closer if you are using a trans from a car.
