I have ran into a problem installing transmission? the adapter plate is 1 1/2 inch thick so when you installed it on back of engine there is no room between it and the fire wall for the aod to go/if you have installed a Bendtesen aod kit in a 55 fairlane I would like to hear how you worked around this problem /Did you move engine forward or cut the fire wall? or did you come up with something else

Howdy,
Well, you'll have to move either the transmission or the engine.
In my case, I "moved" BOTH since I had to remove the T-98 4 speed and shorten the front driveshaft to accommodate the MUCH longer E4OD.
Your car obviously didn't come new with the AOD so I would expect you to have to do something similar.
I also had to adjust the vertical position of the engine in mine but I have a LOT of room in every direction (probably more than you have of course)
You may just have to move the engine forward an inch or two.
Pictures?
Regards,
Rick

I used their adapter with an AOD in my 56 Victoria and didn't have any firewall or tunnel clearance problems. Chuck

Yes, mine was installed with the engine out. It didn't seem like it would be much more difficult in car but I had the engine out for a rebuild already. Chuck

I really don't know what I am talking about here but if the motor mounts are reversed or backwards will it make a diffrence? Just asking. Gerry

Gerry, you do know what your talking about and yes it does make a difference, tho minimal. If the mounts were installed backwards it would move the engine FORWARD ~1" though.
