My dad finally did it - he purchased a good 55 F300. Has the 4 speed, dual rear tires, 2 speed rear, EXCELLENT SHEET METAL!!!, no bed (wants to put a flatbed on it), etc, etc. She is a real gem and a steal at only $325! Yes - that is three hundred and 25 bucks! No motor under the hood right now, however, and that is where I need a little help.

A buddy of mine has a 292 from a 62 F100. Is this the same front motor mount as the 55 F300? My dad and I will be putting in a 292 (I have several blocks to choose from), and I also know that we will need the original style radiator fan setup that mounts the fan higher than the passenger car motors, right?

What size flywheel and clutch do I need? The bellhousing and fork are still in the truck, so I am assuming that I need just the flywheel, pressure plate and clutch, and the bearings??

When we haul it, I will try to post a few photos.

Daniel, the 62 PU used a single donut type front mount, I think the 55 used a mount with flanges on each side, still mounts to the front cover like the 62. You should be able to find one or I don't think it would be hard to modify or adapt the later mount. My 62 was orginally a 6 banger, I just welded a bracket to the front frame crossmember to accept the V8 mount.

Dan, I have the 239 car motor in my truck. It has the passenger car fan down low, I bought a truck fan shroud and turned it upside down. Perfect fit. My front motor mount is the bottom half of a truck mount welded to the top half of a car mount. I bet I could take some pictures if you would like. Don't know if I can post them here, but I know how to send e mail pictures.

I think that the F100's have a single engine mount in the front, under the vibration damper. I pulled a 312 in a 60 F250 that had a motor mount in the front that was 18" wide with two mount points. It attached to the chassis where a gusset attached between the front crossmember to the frame rail.

I'll look around to see if I brought that part home.
