I have a 63 f-100 but the guy I bought it from said he thought when he bought it from the previous owner(I hope you followed all that) that he put a 60 or 61 in it. is there a way to tell? The heads were colored with ford blue if that helps but I understand that it was colored differant for cars vs trucks. Is there a number on the block or heads that would tell me the year of the engine? Thanks for your help.

Hi Ray,

Google www.ford-y-block.com

Scroll down on the Home page to the rectangle, 'Information Center'

Toggle the heading, 'Block Numbers'

Scroll down on the page that opens to the later block numbers.

In looking at your engine block, the block numbers are located on the driver's side, above the oil filter.

Hope this helps. Smile
