Ted Eaton takes his 375 inch ford Y to the Engine Masters Challenge and changes perception of his Cold War classic. This is in the new Modified Mustangs & Fords magazine page 44 and the front cover says Prehistoric Muscle: Building a 540HP 375CI Ford Y-BLOCK.

Cool. I wonder, did they just find out about it??

The mags know all about it, they just dont want to admit that they have been wrong for 50 years.

James Smart (Modified Mustangs and Fords) first contacted me last May regarding an article on the Y entries for both years at the Engine Masters Challenge. Since that time I simply forwarded him pictures and technical info on the engine at which point he put together the text. I just received my copy and James did a good job in combining both years of the Y in the EMC into a single write-up. Some pretty good ink for a ‘dinosaur’engine.

Ted,that's amazing work. I was real happy just getting 300hp out of my 292

Ted the article turned out well. Should help keep you busy for some time, as if you needed that. I'm surprised how many people have mentioned the article. i didn't know the magazine had that good a following.

i just got to finishing reading that article. i thought it was pretty well done also.
some great ink for eaton and mummert.
and i admit the Y is coming round with popularity.

flatheads may be getting too expensive and the Y is the next in line for hot rodding.

maybe its the same firing order? dunno, but its all good stuff.

Walmart has it. (At least the one in Jackson,MS that I was in.) There is a photo of a blue 2011 Mustang GT that has been re-skinned with '68 sheetmetal on the front cover.

Here’s the cover shot of the mag. Just look for the Y on the lower left of the cover. It's the May 2013 issue.

I didn't even see that one on the stand. Is that the most current issue so it will be on the stands a while longer? I don't really have time to go on a magazine hunt this week.

Charlie. I just got my copy a week ago so that should be the newest issue available. I suspect the previous months issue may still be on the stands at some of the stores.

Another good read is the article on the green falcon on the cover. powered by a 7.3 powerstroke.

TV shows too. I was watching "Desert Car Kings" the other night where two employees pulled a decent Y-block out of a junkyard to put in a T-Bird project. Their boss got angry, calling the engine "the worst dog of a V8," or something to that effect. As if the Chevy 265 was worlds better. You wonder where remarks like that come from. Just not true.

I had to stop watching those crooks! A junk car with any engine that will fit (not even rebuilt) and quick body and paint and new interior is NOT a restored car. But that is how they sell them. Most of the cars they have sold they get too much money for what they are. The entire concept is a ripoff. Chuck

I Had buddys watch that show a year or so ago and just because that idiot said that about they Y they all gave me grief about working on them, But little do they know!

Dorothy asked the tin man how he talked without a brain and his answer was, "there all all kinds of people who talk a lot without a brain"

I wonder sometimes. I think it's more the case that they do know, but just don't want to admit it, about Fords. Kind of like the story about the emperor's new clothes.

most of the Chevy guys i know are more "monkey see, monkey do" types. They believe about everything they read or hear from an "Expert." These are the same guys who ran 2-4's on 265's with Powerglides and 2.73 rear ends. then couldn't figure out why they got blown off by Granny in her straight eight Buick!w00t

I've been stopping at places on the way to other, more important places and I finally found it at the 8th place.
