James Eickman's book recommends cutting angled slots in the back of the cam thrust plate to facilitate oil getting to the front face of the cam. I thought I had read about this elsewhere but cannot find a link. Is anybody (everybody) doing this?

I've done it on my past 2 engine builds. I don't see how it could hurt anything.

The Street Rodder Mag series of articles a number of years ago had that in it.

The Mercury M 260 tech bulletins suggest to drill two small opposing holes thru the plate.

I did that proceedure on my last engine.
