Did I read that there is a y blocker who was at columbus with a smokin' T-Bird that has a Tremec 6 speed?

I thought that the 6 speed had an intrigal bell housing on all but the gm application...

Tremec makes an aftermarket T56 to fit a FE That comes with an adapter plate. Drill the adapter plate to accept the small bolt pattern on the bellhousing, then do whatever is needed to fit an FE to a y-block. (shorten the pilot bearing shaft, cut down the bearing retainer front shaft cover etc.)  You would have to get in touch with Tremec's aftermarket division and I don't have their number.

Well ok... A bit of a job for my old tank!!   I think I'll stick with my plans for the 5 speed!!  I got a little happy about the double O.D.  A nice transition from 1:1 to the.68, or .62 in the case of the 6spd.

Thanks for the info though!

63, i'm running the T-5, and it is awesome with my pickup. I'm running a 3:73 rear end. Still has plenty of go, and cruises nicely doing 70-80 mph @2400-2700 RPMS.

unibody-

Did you use Mummert's adapter?  What size tires are you running??

My 4.10's are killing me on the highway!  Esp. with the gas prices! Sheesh!

See my post about the T-5 from last night.  It should have all the information you could need.  My tires are 23" tall.

ive seen some t56's that are for 5.0 it seemes it would be easyer to adapt a smallblock to another smallblock and i know that adapters are available to adapt the 5.0 trany's to the y's just a thought i had for my truckhowever i dont know if it'll work since i also want to convertit it to 4x4
