On my 57 Bird the right rear turn signal quit flashing so I bought a bulb to put in it (1034) now it flashes real fast and when I turn on the park or headlights it goes solid. Any ideas? Flasher or bad ground? Thanks

If im not mistaken a 1034 is a single filament bulb. If it is a combination of turn/brake and taillight you need a dual filament bulb. 1157. Look inside the socket. Should be a deep slot on one side and short on the other side. There is 2 contacts at the bottom.

Look at the base of the bulb you took out.Its likely 2 contacts and says 1157 on it.

A 1034 is identical to an 1157 just not as many watts. I put an 1157 in it 1st and it did the same thing. It had, and the owners manual calls for a 1034 so I thought maybe the increased wattage of an 1157 was not letting it flash right so I bought a 1034 and it does the same thing. When it 1st went out it was a normal burn out where the front one just stayed lit solid and the rear one didn't light at all. I think my headlight switch might be going bad because you have to wiggle it to get the dash lights to come on but I really didn't think that would have anything to do with it. I guess I'll try a flasher 1st if I can find it up under the dash. The old Birds didn't have a fuse box just in-line fuses so I'm not sure where the flasher will be. Lex

If you need a new headlight switch I bought on at a HUB auto parts in OC So Cal along with a new ignition switch that could take my original key rotor. Both were made buy Standard Products..........Good Luck
