Dennis Carpenter now has the 1956 Ford Passenger Car Parking Lights available with the extensions and sockets.$600.00/Pr.Anyone had a chance to see these or bought them?Hows the quality? You can be sure they were made offshore like the 55 Grill assembly.Just looking for some feedback.

i looked at a set Toby Gorny had at the all Ford show at Carlisle. They are cast in China but Carpenter has them plated in USA,that is what Toby told me.Quality looked ok and i would probably buy a set if i needed them. Carl

If the chrome is anything like the chrome they use on their door handle I say beware. They seem to scratch way too easy and the chrome is thin in places, you can see the copper thru it in places. Maybe they buffed them too much but I was rather disappointed in the quality. I'm more than a little concerned how they will stand up over time.

For that kind of money I would expect them to be made in USA. There is no way I spend that money on chit made in china, quality or not. Let's say if the originals cost twice that, I would still pay it.
I will never put chinese crap on my made in USA car.

A lot of labour intensive(and not so labour intensive) repro parts are being contracted to overseas manufacturers. There is a pair of these listed on Ebay and you can see from the pics of the inside that they are not as "heavy" a casting as the originals.I dont know where you would find NOS lights.Best you could hope for is good enough cores to be rechromed. In my opinion the quality of repro parts is declining.

I recently saw a 56 NOS hood ornament for $350. I guess I should get it.

The sad thing is it is probably impossible to not use chinese parts these days. If it does not have stamped on the part, "made in USA" then you probably know where it's come from.

It is sad that repro parts cannot be made in North America. With the availability of better material than original (example plastic for lens and better quality control for metals etc) and superior production equipment compared to original we are now getting repro parts that are not as good quality wise as the originals and yet the prices are still high.If you see an NOS or original used item in good shape especially chrome trim etc you might want to purchase it and put it away even if you don't need it right now.I have a repro hood ornament from Carpenter. Its OK but the chrome is no great quality and its much lighter than the original.$150.00.
