Good Morning,
I just found this group this morning, and need to get school'ed

I have a '78 Correct Craft "Ski Natique" with a 351 CID

I would like to ID the Block & confirm if it is a 351M

The only # I see on the Block web (passenger side) is #7J130 which I recall to be the casting date location.

Attached are photos of the engine, its ID tag, Here is the breakdown on the engine tag:

P- Pleasure craft
R- Right hand rotation
D- 5.8 liter Ford
W- Borg-Warner Tranny
R- Reverse or reduction gear (direct drive)
R- Right hand propeller
10- Direct drive tranny, 1:1
FIRING ORDER
18456273
Thanks in advance for all input, and/or connections for the Water Pump or Intake Manifold

Sorry to tell you that is not a Y-Block. Looks like a 351W. Good engines but not a Y.

Thank You Marc.

It's not a Windsor, because the intake manifold is at least 2" wider than standard small block

it is a 351W, the 351 is a tall deck Windsor. it's better than a 351c or 351m, better oiling system.

To answer your question, it's NOT a 351 M. It's a Windsor and be glad it is, Much better engine and a hugely greater amount of parts are available for it. Alum heads, Stroker cranks to 427 cubic inches, you name it.

So, to reiterate your solution, as I interpreted it: it is a "351W Tall Deck"

I ordered a 351 Windsor Intake Manifold on my last order and its too narrow.

Do I need to indicate "351 Windsor Tall Deck" on my ordering of parts.

I appreciate you

There is only one production block that you'll find for the Windsor 351. It is basically a Raised Deck 289/302/ 5 liter block. A few, very few, of the earliest blocks were very slightly different. If the manifold you were sent was too narrow, it was for a 302 and not your 351.

The confusion lies in the fact that the 351M came with a 400M block. This was a raised deck 351 CLEVELAND. That engine was never to my knowledge used by Crusader. Your engine is NOT an M or a Cleveland, again, it's a Windsor.

They probably sent you 302 W intake if its around 2" narrower.
