Hello everyone,

I have temporarily installed an aftermarket aluminum radiator in my Edsel until I can get the funds together to have my original recored. I had to move it ever so slightly forward to accommodate some hoses that run underneath the radiator that go to my separate transmission cooler. I'm using the original Fomoco fan from this engine (292 V8 from 1959)

Does the fan flex at all while the engine is running? I have about an inch of clearance between the radiator and the fan. Here are some photos:

I have run an original fan such as this at an even tighter tolerance with 0 issues. I believe you are fine there. Most of these really depends on what kind of shape your fan is actually in. Other guys may have differing opinions... we will wait for them to chime in.

I have a stock 4 blade fan as close as yours or maybe a little closer. Haven't had a problem in the 6 years I have run the car, once at the drags where I really laid it on the engine.

Awesome, thanks guys. I am much more confident. As you can see, everything is just mocked up, currently I need to reinstall the timing cover, valley cover, intake, oil pan, etc. Hopefully I'll have her running again in a month or less.

Make sure your engine mounts are in good condition.. You dont have the front steady rest on that model.. You should be ok.
