I have not been able to attend any of these events. Don't know the rules, like is there class  breakdowns, body rules , such as make or year ? I think I have good idea, but like to be a little more sure,     Dave

Mongo:

At the shootout in Columbus each Labor Day weekend, the rules are simple.  The vehicle has to be powered by a Ford, Mercury, or Lincoln Y Block engine.  We bend the rules a little to allow the MEL powered cars also, and we have even allowed a flathead Lincoln V-12 to compete.  The track's safety rules are also in effect, such as a water overflow can, battery mounted securely, seat belt, etc.  The more serious and faster the car, the more stringent the safety rules.  The race is run as a Bracket class, dial your own handicap.  A great place to learn the basics of bracket racing if you are new to drag racing, with lots of friendly Y guys to help you learn.  And with the great program of donated monies, there is an excellent chance that every contestant will take home a little of the loot.

Thanks John,

Thats everything I needed to hear, I have a bunch of mid 50's fords, and couple of good engine combos , the go fast shell has been eluding me. I've had the FEDS + altereds back before bracket racing, Sprints after that.   I want something fast lite + pretty for my pet engine . So if anyone reading this has old digger ,or straight axle car , please let me know, Dave
