What is it?

My truck's battery drops immediately to about 8.7 volts while the starter is engaged. I'm thinking that's below the minimum and it's probably going to die soon.

I consulted my car and truck service manuals. Who knew, reading a book! The internet will be the end of us.
9.6ish for warmer areas and 9.2ish for 32*F.

It was about 50*, so it will be wise to replace it.
