I have a bellhousing with the casting letters " AJ 6394 C "What is it off of ? My Ford " DEALER PARTS CATALOG 1949-1959 "does not list this number so I am thinking it is fro a 1960-1962 Ford car ? Click on attachment to see photo....................thanks,John in CT

I can't tell you what it is, but I know what it probably isn't. I have two Y-Block bellhousings with casting numbers, and they are both AE-D. It may be the camera angle, but the two top boltholes to bolt to the block look pretty close together, comparing them to the trans mount boltholes. Maybe it is a housing for the I Block six, I do know their holes are closer than the Y's.

I'm with John, thinking it is a 6 banger.

I just measured the "top" engine bolt holes.... center of one hole to center of the other hole = 7 5/8....I don`t have a Y block bellhousing available to compare measurements....John

I measured a Y housing, the bolt holes are 7 5/8, so it appears that you do indeed have a Y housing.

What you need is a Master Parts Cross Reference catalogue to cross the cast number as known to a Ford part number.
I have them but wont be near them for another 3 weeks.
