Im really having trouble with the search and search advanced options. It takes forever and I never find what Im looking for. Its easier to just add a new post, but Im not sure the purpose of the forum is to post a new thread for every question.
What is a good choice spark plug for 272 Y block motor that is still running but has not been modified or rebuilt. I will be changing from the stock two barrell to a four barrell, upgraded distributer and summit 600 carberator.

I use ngk v tip plugs.used them the last 10 years. have really good luck with them

I have used Autolites for years but the present owners of the trademark have dropped many of the heat ranges. They, Allied Signal (?) have also changed designations which just confuses matters, IMO. Motorcraft is a good product and is readily available from many outlets. I have also used NGK with excellent results. They have extensive experience with high performance applications- just ask any motorcycle enthusiast. NGK dominates motocross and road racing competition. If your Y is not highly modified, use the stock heat range called for in the catalogs. Once you know the OE plug, it can be cross referenced to the brand of your choice. I do not recommend Champion or AC however. Even though the early Y's came from the factory with Champions, the current production is not as good, again IMO.

I got it narrowed down to Autolite 46's or NGK. Going to test one to check on clearance with John Mummert Headers. If I get the Autolite 46, its just the copper one, the 46P is the platnum (probably over kill for a stock 272 with four barrell)? If I go with NGK, it looks to me like I want the 1071 WR5. Does that sound like the correct cross reference for an Autolite 46?
