What is the trick to get the choke tube out that runs below the carb in the intake ? It seeps to be solid in there.

First of all, the manifold has to be off the engine.  Then you can use a punch of the correct diameters to punch each end into the cavity in the manifold.  One end is bigger than the other.  This will collapse the tube inside the cavity and you can fish it out.  Another possibility is to drill the tube out carefully from each end with the correct ize drill bit.

Recommend that you start the tube from the side directly under the carburetor base (driver's side), tapping the tube toward the passenger side of the intake.

Probably, this is the only way that you can do it, because as John said, one end of the tube is bigger than the other!  Hehe

Somebody is offering stainless steel replacement heat tubes... I THINK I saw them in a CASCO catalog.  IF so, probably the other T-Bird parts suppliers are offering them, too.

Hope this helps.  Smile
