Wouldn't you want the water flowing to the shutoff valve side of the core, so he heater core does not hot of water flowing to it or pressure against it when the valve is closed?

does not mater where the shutoff is water can not flow when it is off,in ou out. my thotes where radiators have hot water going into top of rad and out the suction sid of water pump. my heater works well with water flowing contrary to the manuals. my shut of is on waterin(from intake manifold, just ahead of therm.
