This is not engine related but want to know if anyone has converted their Fairlane (57) to front disc power bakes. There are several bolt on conversion kits available but before I jump into it I would love to hear from someone who has done the conversion for pros and cons. I have auto trans and 312 engine. I have already added a power booster and dual master cylinder but still have the drums on front and rear. I can stop pretty well with setup at slower speeds but am worried about a panic stop with the drums.

Thanks for any help available!

If you don't get a response here you might try looking over on www.57fordsforever.com for an answer. Plenty of guys over there have done it and I'm sure they'll help you out. You may find your answer by just looking at the brake section on that site.

I have not done the conversion but look at a lot of them and ask questions. Personally I like the ones with stock or stock appearing rear shields. A few say "Granda type" spindles if you are looking at those. Type meant China when I called them. This alone will make me go to ones using stock spindles.... Good Luck
