By the distributor should be a C with an F inside it, Cleveland Foundry. The number is EDB-6015-A, '55-'57 292, or EDB-6015-E, '58-'59 292 or 312. http://www.ford-y-block.com/Block%20identification.htm

Charlie, I believe casting numbers by the distributor are Dearborn blocks, mostly earlier ones like EBU, EBV and ECG. Cleveland castings No's were on the side of the block.
 55 Vicky & customline 58 Rack Dump, 55 F350 yard truck, 57 F100 59 & 61 P 400's, 58 F100 custom cab, 69 F100, 79 F150, 82 F600 ramp truck, 90 mustang conv 7 up, 94 Mustang, Should I continue?

That's correct, but if I'm not mistaken, the Cleveland Foundry CF is also found by the distributor on Cleveland blocks..

Are the Dearborn blocks any better or worse?
