I have a 55 custom line, 272 auto, car runs super cold with choke out, warms up and stumbles on take off, keeping the choke out a little helps, carb is rebuilt, timing has been set. Any suggestions on what to ck next?

You might check to see if the heat riser on the passenger side exhaust manifold is still there and operating correctly. Also, maybe someone in the past blocked off the intake manifold heat crossover ports.

If it's an auto choke, B55 is on track. If it's a manual, I'd be looking for a vacuum leak first, and lean jets on the primaries second. Did this just start, or is it tied to the rebuild of the carb. It could also be our cheapo fuel after being laid up for the winter, if this is the first time out.

It's a manual choke, just got the car last fall, sat for a long time, it was way out of time and ran terrible when I first got it, so I'm not sure if this is a new problem or not. It's in time now. Going to ck for leaks

I'm curious if you were able to fix the problem. I have a 55 Customline 272 auto and it takes several pumps of the gas to start it cold (w/o the manual choke). The choke doesn't seem to make much difference so I may have other issues.

Your're not using the choke or it does not work?  Is it getting adequate fuel?  A plugged up fuel filter?  How does it run when warmed up?
