Hello can a standard 6 volt starter be converted to a high torque unit . The starter is out of a 1955 272 engine thanks

If you are or have converted to 12V it automatically becomes a high torque starter. Otherwise you might ask an auto electric shop if it can be done.

Try 'Tee-Bird Products Inc.'. I believe they rebuilt 6V starters at one time using high torque windings.
