Has anyone used the Mummert valley cover with the hole for pcv? I was doing some final assembly on my 292 and when I put the intake on it would not clear the valve. Intake is a Edelbrock 573 and I tried two different valves one stock and an aftermarket one. I could make the factory one work with extensive mods but would rather not.

I have used the Mummert valley covers with the PCV valve option on engines with aluminum heads and Mummert single four intakes. On that combination, they fit fine without any alterations or modifications. I've also used the stock valley covers with the Edelbrock three deuce intakes without any fitment issues. You say the intake would not clear a valve. What valve?.

The 3x2 573 appears to be too long. There us no room for either a stock style pcv valve or the Mr Gasket billet one that I have. The only way I see to make one work is to basically modify a truck style pcv fitting. I will post some pics to better explain what I am talking about.

I have the Mummert valley cover and a 573 Edelbrock intake. Use a PCV that has a 90 degree elbow and it will clear. I think I used a 90's Ford Taurus but it has been awhile so can't remember for sure. Some of the aftermarket PCV's come with a straight and 90 degree elbow included in the package.

Not to hijack this, but does any one know if the Mummert valley cover with the pcv can be installed without removing a head? I would like to get one but not too crazy with removing a head to do it. I got s 312 with G heads (non TBird)
Thanks

The Mummert valley pan will come off my 312 without and I have Mummert heads. I think John intentionally designed the outside dimensions of his heads to mimic the stock Ford heads for a convenient stealthy appearance.

I had to do a little file work to get mine on with the heads and distributor in place. It took maybe a total of 10 minutes to get it to come in and out easily with gasket in place and once it's on you can't see where it was worked on.

I installed mine with the heads on, and yes I had to file it a bit, but it will go on.

I just used John's a few weeks back did not have to file anything, I slipped it under the heads took a little care not to disturb the gasket while doing so. I used a rubber gasket instead of the OE cork style. I needed the pan to sit lower as not to touch the intake. Hope that helps.
