Looking for some ideas on a brake light issue I recently noticed. I have a 1957 Ford Fairlane 500 stock drums and master cylinder no power etc. I replaced the stop light switch a while back due to leaking, the new switch seemed  to work fine but now I noticed the lights don't come on if I just tap the brakes they only come on when I press hard and that's usually  at a complete stop. Are there different pressure switches or is there a universal switch that I can mount under dash and adjust it on the pedal. Any ideas or help would be appreciated if you've run into this situation.
Thanks

You have a couple of choices:

Use a Harley Davidson switch that is very low pressure and is made to be used/compatible with Dot 5 fluid (other companies also sell low pressure switches).
Or add a mechanical switch.

I've never had any trouble with the pressure switches, but others have.
Just my experience

Mac's sells a mechanical brake light switch that is pretty easy to install.
