I,ve checked through the topics and didn't find anything on this swap, what is the easiest way to adapt a T-5 to the y-block (I'm currantly running a B/W 4-speed).I've seen adapters listed from Berndtsen,Mummert,Quick Time,Wilcap,all with various prices from $150 to $900 dollars,is one better than others?Do you have to change the clutch disc or does the T-5 trans spline fit the y-block clutch spline? Also,when installing the T-5 do you replace the pilot bushing with a roller bearing type? For gas mileage would you go with 3:50's or 3:89's for off lite oomph and highway cruising? Y-Kid:    I did this conversion to my '60 F-100, used Mummerts adapter

        plate,a #6203 bearing(sealed on both sides)and a mustang disc

        but I don't remember spline count.

            I had 3.89's in the truck with a 28" tire and it did great but, your tire

        height will determine if that's good for you!

The 5 speed should give better mileagage with the overdrive. Oh, do you mean around town? I did some calculations a while back. I have a 3.70 or 3.89 - I haven't verified but I plan to go with 3.55 with a T5 with the 2.95 1st gear. With this combination first gear will be shorter - like having a numerically higher rear gear but around town mileage should improve and highway mileage should improve with the overdrive. I think it put 70mph around 2075RPM, I think I was assuming the use of a 27.4 inch tire.

I thought about running 3:73's or 3:89's around town in 4th and the overdrive anything after 55 mph.But would consider 3:50's for all around driving(town/freeway),right now I'm running 225x70x15's on back but thinking of going to 255x60x15's, the 225's are 26" tall the other is 28". I have a T5 in my 56 Victoria.  #! - There are several T5s.  Be sure to get one from a 5.0 Mustang.  Within that group are several gear combos.  I believe my 1st gear is 3.30:1.  All 4th gears are 1:1.  My OD 5th is .67:1  I have 3.73 gears and am running 235-75-15 tires on 8" Cragar Street stars.  3.50s might help in town as the 1st gear combo is LOW but 3.50s with my tires and .67:1 OD would mean I could almost never use the OD.  Right now 70 MPH in 5th is just over 2,000 RPM.

Back to installation:  I used Mummert's adapter.  Worked well.  Though the input shaft is 3/4" longer, the adapter is 3/4" thick.  Clutch disc and input are both 10 spline but the Y 10 spline won't work, get one for 'Stang.

Will also need to cut large section of tranny hump to aid in stabbing the tranny but a flange added to the removed section and sheet metal screws will fix it.  if you need the seat moved forward any, need to get a tail shaft off an S10.  Mine is all the way back and I bought a Hurst stick.

You may need a drive shaft made.  The T5 is shorter than the std tranny but you are running another tranny already.  Also may need a cross member but same as above the one you have may work but did not when removing original 3 spd.

What pressure plate should be used with this conversion? A buddy of mine wants to do the conversion with Mummerts setup, and has the stock 10" flywheel and pressure plate, I'm thinking he needs another flywheel for the 11" since the mustang disc is 10.5" as well as an 11" pressure plate.
