I went to install the new correct clutch that finally came in. Torqued bolts to 18 ft/lb and one snapped off. Looking for new set of ARP bolts. The bolts have a shoulder and I don't think off the shelf grade 8 bolts will work. Can't find a 312 application on line. The ARP website doesn't list them. I have found ARP bolts for 289-460 application that are the correct 5/16x18 and .780" long but mine are .875 long. Will these work or they too short? Anyone have an ARP # for these?

Slumlord. John Mummert has a listing for a Grade 8 pressure plate bolt kit for 3 finger pressure plates. John lists many of his bolt offerings as being ARP. This particular kit he does not indicate that the bolts are ARP sourced, just being Grade 8 John lists this bolt kit as #PPB-KIT On his Internet price listing, the pressure plate bolts are THE Last at the end of the price list. Price is $18.00 Hope this helps.

Measure one of the originals and email ARP with the thread size and length and ask ARP if an application from another engine will work. I'm fairly certain I have ordered some before but it would have been a long time ago and I have no idea what the application was at this point. I also would not hesitate to use John's but he may be out of town for the week for Engine Masters.

I checked John's website first. I've got a lot of parts from him and his price is fine and he's great to do business with but sometimes he is hard to get a hold of and I'm sort of in a hurry. Lost a week or more with clutch parts problems and having to pull the engine and transmission again. Will try my local parts guy tomorrow and see if he can come up with anything and try to call John Monday. I can get grade 8 bolts with the right thread and length at my local hardware store but probably not with the proper shoulder.

Maybe Ted will chime in soon. I asked the same question and he recommended an ARP bolt. I just can't remember the application or part number.

Many of the aftermarket hipo clutch manufacturers have bolts, I would check places like Summit or Jegs etc.. I used the bolts from an old FE motor/clutch I had on my Y. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mcl-1501/overview/

It seems to me the Y and scrub bolts were the same, but not sure.

I talked to my local parts guy today and he can come up with some that should work by Tuesday. The shoulder length can be fudged a bit with a washer or 2 if necessary.

Picked up bolts from local CARQUEST guy today. Mr. Gasket #911 5/16-18 grade 8 bolts & lock washers 1" long in case anyone else ever needs a set. $11.99 +tax which I thought was more than reasonable. Now I get to start putting it all back together again. Hopefully for the last time.
