I have a Griffen aluminum radiator in my 55 with a coolant recovery container from CASCO. It was installed several years ago and I have had zero problems; it also has a shape reminiscent of the original.

Charlie, I went through the same issue of fitment with a Champion in my 1960 truck with a 223 six. The only radiator listed was for a scruby conversion and claimed it would be the same for the six. Inlet/ outlets were in the correct place and size but the mounting brackets were wrong and I had to add 1" spacers. On the 60 the brackets were also to wide to move it back the 1" and I had to cut them down also. The other thing I don't like is the filler neck is 1" deep rather the 3/4" and I can't find a 7lb 1" deep cap that will work for a recovery system. Looking at the over all quality of the Champion compared to the other Chinese ones I have bought I don't see any difference..

I'll have to take a look at the filler neck. I didn't measure but did compare the feel and it felt the same.

I'll have to take a look at the filler neck. I didn't measure but did compare the feel and it felt the same. I'm still using my old 7# cap on the new radiator, it seems to seal but probably isn't holding the correct pounds. I've never had any heating issues even in the summer heat running the air, so I hadn't looked at it further but would like to have a correct cap.

The radiator came with a cap. I compared that against a Motorcraft that I was using previously and have kept for reference. The one that came with it is about 7/8" top to bottom, with respect to how it fits the filler neck. The Motorcraft is 3/4". From that, I'd say it's not a 1" deep neck. I'll take a closer look after I swap the vehicles again.

I'll have to remeasure mine for exact size, I was going by memory from a year ago which isn't always a good idea. I measured from the top of the neck to the sealing surface inside, I'll do it again tomorrow morning.

On the subject of the filler depth, The replacement Cold Case, repro it replaced, and radiator for my '88 Firebird are all 25/32" deep so it seems to be correct in that respect.
