The original 292 had headwork, cam and a McCulloch on it. In the '56 timeframe a connecting rod bolt failed. I recall seeing the crank in four pieces and the cam in six pieces. Very soon after Grandfather had a '56 312 block with a final ci at 342 in it. And yes eluding to the weaker 55 transmission, it still has it , and survived the racing. - Grandfather would go around the water box and launch somewhat conservatively. The rear end ratio comes in about 4.10 with a HiTork cone style limited slip.
