hey all, im keith  im new here just wanted to say hey   while at the moment i dont have a y-block powerd car i did just purchase a 57 sedan project at the sprigfield ohio swap meet this past weekend

this makes the 2nd 57 sedan i have owned the first one i had was around 1991 or so and i was too young (21)  and in too big of  hurry to do it the way i wanted  and honestly it was too far gone for a  person with the limited experience and knowledge that i had at the time

but now at the ripe old age of ahem 38 (cough) BigGrin  and with a car that ALOT better off condition wise  im finnally gonna build the 57 that ive allways wanted

the first 57 i had  was powerd by a 62 t-bird 390 and a toploader with supposedly 4:10 geared 9 inch maybe steeper (was a active sportsman type reacer back when)  i watched it sit and rot in my nieghborhood for like 17 years in the guys front yard  until i bought it ( i wanted to do a frame off rebuild on it)  but as me and my friend lifted the body up off the frame the floors started falling farther down (sooo i sold it...)

the car i just bought recently has had ALL the floor pans replaced from the firewall all the way to the rear bumper and had patches welded into the quarters  (so im allready farther along with this one)it doesnt have a engine or trans  but im seriously concidering a 390 (as an omage to my first 57)but with a c6 trans and a better highway gear (and to be honest even though its VERY unlikly and hard to belive this 57 and my first 57 have soo much in comman that they could be one in the same)

but at the moment  ive got to wait until it gets here (come on next saturday)  and really sit back and take a good look and decide where and what i want to do with it

well im looking forward to asking and learning from alot of you (if you dont mind ) and getting some input one things to do with the old girl

i was at the last 2 nmro shows in columbus and have the pics to prove it (if this site is friendly to picture posters i may be could be persuaded to post them )  many of the yblock cars i know some of you if not all of you were there racing  and i talked to harry hutton (who lives just up the street from me) about maybe getting a car from him

well enough of my rambling  talk to ya'll soon

Keith, Welcome to the site.  Not a problem with picture posting but keep them downsized so that the text doesn’t scroll off of the right side of the screen.  Many of the forum members are on dial up and downsized pictures are definitely easier to pull up as a result.

Jim (site administrator) is going through all the pictures that are being sent to him on CD’s and will post them in a gallery located off of the main page as he’s done in years past.  Lots of pics to go through for this year so far.

If you haven't already found it, take a look at '57fordsforever.com.  Great group, and they are not Y Block specific power like this site.  They have swapped all kind of Ford engines in their '57s and can be of great help regarding engine, trans, brake, steering, interior, etc. swaps.  I'm not suggesting you abandon us, though.  We'll help all we can.

I believe you are confusing my car with Dave Fuszner's.  He has the glass fenders, mine are original steel.  The fenders were already on his car when he bought it about 5 years ago, he may not even know where they came from.

The air was bad on Saturday, but better on Sunday.  I managed a 12.16 at 111 Sunday.  In five different races I fared no better than the second round in two, in the Sunday Y shootout (new for this year, thanks NMRA) the battery gave up in the lanes, I couldn't make first round.  Not a particularly good weekend racing, but great camaradarie.  Had no breakdowns on the car except the battery.  I'll let Frank tell his story if he wants.  All I'll say is he was disappointed.

Moz,

Broke the straps on the rear U-Joint with a 5 grand start. Bent the the yoke on the driveshaft, trashed the u joint. Thinking VERY hard about an automatic for next year. I'd like to actually go some rounds. Only got two time trials, both dissapointing, 13.50's and 60's. I think the car should go real low 13's or high 12's when I get it figured out. First time out on slicks, but my own fault for not using first rate parts and having the car dialed in with some practice runs before Columbus. It's still possibly one of the fastest pure stock F codes I've ever heard of, now it's time to see what happens when it's setup like the Stockers were in the 60's. Always want more!w00t
