I recently bought a six-blade, direct-drive mechanical cooling fan (not flex fan). How likely is it to come apart above an occasional (not sustained) 5000+?

If its straight with no bad rivets or cracks it should not be a problem.

Y's guys rule!
Looking for McCullouch VS57 brackets and parts. Also looking for 28 Chrysler series 72 parts. And early Hemi parts.

If it DOES fail, you can have my new one for the shipping $ (went back to the lighter/quieter silver powder coated 4-blade after spacer/cover mod).
