Glad to have new people showing up - everyone has something to contribute sooner or later!

Several guys who write in here have used the adapter set-up from Bendtsens   www.transmissionadapters.com will get you there. The AOD's are getting a lot of attention because they'll let you put some serious gears in there (and still be able to cruise home on the freeway).

I will add my 2 cents about the Bendtsen setup. It is an ok setup for the AOD, but just hope that you do not need tech support after the sale. Bob Bendtsen sold me an adapter and claimed that it worked with not only the AOD but also with my Tremec 5 speed. When I got the thing, I found that it just wasn't so! Thanks to having Ted Eaton just down the road, he was able to engineer things so that it would actually work with the Tremec, but we had to hunt down a Ford truck 300 c.i. bellhousing, find a SBF flywheel with the right number of teeth (too long ago now so I don't remember the # we finally had to have), and then the adapter that bolts to the end of the crank was not machined properly and did not quite fit. When I contacted him, I got no response from the phone calls, and no reply via e-mail.

Unless he has remedied the adapter hub problem, be prepared to take it to a local machine shop to have the thing turned slightly so that it will actually fit properly to the end of the crankshaft. Having said all of that, I fully intend to use mine with the 54 convertible and an AOD. After all, it's paid for and will now work ok since modifications are complete.

Cheers guys thats very interesting.

Oh by the way i might as well introduce myself, my name is Steve Lang and i live in the U.K. where i build Hotrod's for a living, I just have a small workshop and i work alone.

My next personal project is a Ford 30/31A Roadster Pickup and its getting the 292 Y block with a C4, It has a Fenton 3 x 2 94setup. i've built many 289/302's but i'm new to the Y block so will probably be posting quite a bit. I'm looking for a nice streetable engine so any advice or top tip's will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Steve.
