I have a '56 272. Some of my rocker bolts will loosen up quicker than they should. One side has the over sized ones (7/16th) and the other side has the stock ones (1/2"). Does anyone know where one could get the ones like used to be around that had the screw and then the nut that tightened around it? The '57 I used to have had that and it was a lot better than these one piece things. Thanks ..

You should be able to get new "crimp type" adjusters from your local machine shop, I know Pioneer makes them, they should be tighter in your rockers. But if you would like the old style with the lock nut, send me an address and I'll ship you a set. I've got a box full of them. BigGrin

ejstith, Just a pointer that you could check, I had a very rough running 292 and I had the same on one bank 7/16 and the other 1/2 adjusters, after reading around the forum, became aware of high and low ratio rockers, my 7/16 head adjusters were 1.43 ratio and the 1/2 were 1.54 ratio or high ratio rockjer assembly. I p[urchased another 1.54 and the engine ran like a swiss watch!!!

You may want to post your rocker ar casting numbers 7/16 and 1/2 and someone will confirm that you have the same ratio on both sides, I tried everything to time that engine nice and was at a loss until i came across this.

Cheers

Mine runs fine. I just have one or two that will loosen up shortly after I adjust them. I understand the 7/16th ones are over sized. I don't remember which side it loosens on. I think it's the 7/16th side. However I will check the rockers to make sure they are the same ratio. I would assume one can measure from back to front to see if they are different. Just something I will have to look into. I just remember back with the '57 with the ones that had the screw and locknut I never had this problem. Thanks ....

Yep, sure did. I sent you a note in the mail. Thanks a ton ... I probably won't put them on until I get back from Turkey Rod Run in Daytona next week. I'll just let 'em clatter down there on cruise night.

Wouldn't even cover your gas and was a pleasure for me. Again, thanks a ton. I'll get them in soon but now I have radiator problems that supersedes that little problem ..
