Found a 4bbl 292 maniifold online. Supposed to be for 1957 and up 292 or 312 motors. I'm pretty sure my truck has a 55 motor. Are all 292 manifolds a universal fit or are there differences? Is a long block manifold different than a short block? I'd like to pick up a 4 bbl manifold but want to make sure I purchase the right one.

If the heads are '55, it may be difficult to get the intake to seal because of the difference in port sizes.

And just to add my 2 cents, the manifold pictured is the "good" one to have- parts number ends in"B"

It should work for your 292, but it depends on which heads you have on your 292. Darrell Howard Whitefish, MT

It would be interesting to see the date code on that particular manifold. The part number is normally at the back of the manifold and not on the front like in the manifold pictured. Also, if the firing order is present, it’s normally on the front half of the manifold but the pictured manifold has it on the back half. Just something that’s not seen very often.

I have three of the -B '57 312 intakes and all have the part number up front and the firing order in back, same as the one pictured.

I looked at a few of the other Y-blocks my buds have with the -B intake and we found ONE that has the firing order in front as Ted had said. It bears the CF casting mark indicating it was cast in the Cleveland Foundry. The other intakes do NOT have the CF logo so they were cast elsewhere, possibly Windsor, Ontario.
