The head gaskets I bought for my engine were unfortunally a cheaper roll gaskets and I should retork the heads. I really hate to disturb things and remove the rocker arm assembly. Is that how most people do that?

Timmy, I like to retorque all head gaskets, however even the "Cheep" Rol gaskets claim to be "non-retorque" type. So it's your call.

Timmy. If you simply loosen the rocker arm assemblies and either don’t remove the pushrods or insure that the pushrods are put back into the same holes, you’ll not need to readjust the valve lash after reinstalling the rocker arm assemblies. But as Tim mentions, most modern fibre head gaskets do not require retorquing but if you’ve used the original ‘silly putty’ head bolts, then retorquing is a good idea.If it makes you feel any easier about not retorquing, I did not retorque the head gaskets the last time the heads went back on my 272 and that was in 1990 or 1991. But these are the FelPro Permatorque gaskets and are still going strong.
