I pulled a good looking transmission (will have to open it up) from a 55 Ford wagon. This transmission had been installed sometime ago, but it was not original to the car. The wagon originally came with a Fordo. I could see where some rigging went on in places. Anyhow, the trans has a side cover and I can see AB5 and 7222R I think the tailshaft has AB7531. It does resemble a T86, but I have not closely inspected everything. The entire transmission was painted a light color of blue...I assume original.

If it were a T86 it would be a toploader. If it has a 7222 shift cover, it could be a T85 or a T89.

Does it have a 9 bolt side plate with a rounded bottom? If so it's a T-85 or a T-89. It will say on the side cover if it is one of these. The numbers you posted doesn't ring a bell as far as a T-85/89 goes. By the way, how long is the input shaft from tip to case?

I will have to measure later on today about that input shaft. The cover does have 9 holes, but I could not find T8x anywhere on the cover...

If it has 9 bolts and a rounded on the bottom side plate it's a T-85/89. This is the overdrive version.
