i am trying to find the best way to convert my truck (64f100 w/292) to duel exauhst and i dont want to necicerily want to run headers. so wondering if on the drivers side if the manifold can be flipped to point back and down then just block off the front port on the passenger side or will that mess something up?

The best way is to use a set of Rams Horn manifolds.

Can't flip the manifold. The steering box is in the way. Remove the cross pipe. Cap of the crossover flange on the passenger side. Have a muffler shop make a pipe that bolts to the driver side crossover flange and bends down, around the fuel pump, under the oil filter and clearing whatever else there is in the way.

Take a look on this thread http://www.y-blocksforever.com/forums/Topic23862-6-1.aspx. The red car toward the bottom has done what I'm trying to describe.

This isn't really the best way but it is the most cost effective way and it sounds like cost effective is what you are going for.

Another trick is to use a right side dual ex manifold on the left side.  This dumps to the front but down and requires less of a tubing loop than using the left side single ex manifold and taking it off the front.  There was a guy in Florida who had a pic of such setup on a '64 Pickup pictured in the profiles section but some of those pictures have been lost.

thanks for the information i was hoping to avoid the rams horns all of them i have found r expensive or rusted out my dad wishes me to stay away from headers  as he doesnt want to run the risk of fire if i have to go into the feild with my truck although i would rather my first vehicle stay out of the feild for a while wich leads me to track down stock style manifolds i was not going for cost efective but thanks for the idea hopefully wont need to use that option. and that said i guess after track is over i will get a job so i have money to spend on my baby. i am glad i found this site you guys have alot of information that could be useful to me as i am only 16 and already love these things yblock rule!!!
