I know we've covered this before .. but what dual master cylinders are a direct bolt on for a 56 Ford ... I think I remember a 77 Maverick and maybe a Falcon of some kind ... 4 bolts hold it on .. Thanks ..

Are you going with manual brakes with the replacement master and are you keeping the drums or disc brakes?Makes a difference in cylinders.

  

You don't need a four bolt master. Most of the later Ford masters which bolt up only have two bolts (lower holes) which do the job.

Ejstith........I did the same conversion on my 56 ,same color as yours , and useda Granada duel  master cyl.     about 1978 , but they used the same at least 5 or 6 years.........if non power make sure to ask for  drum to drum....you can find these at most any parts store...  this has two holes , but bolts right on m  you might have to shorten the shaft from the peddle about 1/8 inch...i didn t on mine but i have a high peddle .....llooks good and works good..............Luck...Sam                                                          west central  Florida

Thanks Sam, What did you do with the two holes you didn't use? I don't want two holes there. I'd really like to find a dual cylinder with 4 holes but I guess that's out of the question huh?

On my 54 I just put in bolts - you should have these anyway because they attach the inner brace to the firewall.

I don't think it will change the braking ability.It just makes the system safer because you would still have brakes if the front or rear systems lost pressure.An improvement would be realized by installing power brakes while retaining the 4 wheel drums or going to disc brakes while having either power or manual brake system.Theres a replacement booster/master combo on Ebay for $179.00.1952-1956 Ford use the same stock master cylinder so yes this would also apply to your 55.

  

I used one from a 68 Falcon with four wheel drum brakes. If you have drum brakes on all four wheels make sure you do not use a disc-drum master cylinder.
