I purchased a rolling 55 ford tuck frame and it has these heads on the engine. I went to the mummert site and it says 55 t bird ONLY. These are the earlier style with the freeze plugs in the ends

My question, are these desireable heads? What should I ask for the pair? I'd like to sell and make a few bucks since I cant sell the 50 coupe!

Thanks, Kevin

ECK-"E" (?) not seen when I checked that list. I think all 55 Birds had ECL heads.

Kevin.  I believe you’re dealing with a pickup or truck head.  That particular head is not on my list of passenger car heads but I’ve no other specific information for it.  Are the spark plugs 14mm or 18mm?

I meant to say ECK-B

These are listed as 292 1955 tbird

Ted the engine in this truck is not original as it has a car pan, and these heads.

I would think a person doing a 55 tbird restoration would want these, otherwise I'm sure they are not first choice for performance.

Kevin,

There may be an error on Mummert's site, as the ECL-A heads that originally came on my OD '55 Bird are listed for a Mercury instead, and have the wrong C/R #s. The ECK-B may be a lower C/R pass./truck head. Regardless, since the T-Bird resto manual only lists ECLs, the concours part value would be strictly as a core-plug head only (the casting #s on '55 heads are under the valve cover) for a non-driver show car with past service head replacement. Even then, I would think no one would likely pay shipping costs unless heads were magged/pressure-tested first, since they are not especially desirable to begin with?
