I found an excellent interim motor for my 55 (a remanufactured 292 with G heads and hi ratio rockers - a C2AE block), and will put that in my car while I am building up a motor that will take a supercharger. Maybe there should be a supercharger section or a "hi-po" section for these kind of questions, but I guess they fall under technical. If there are already posts on the old forum, or on this new one, let me know...

Swap meet season is just about upon us here in the eastern US. What kind of carb should I be looking for and should I just go ahead and try to "rig" a regular teapot? What items are currently being fabricated and sold on the market that are Y block specific? Should I stick with the VR57 only and not consider any other of the 50's and 60's type centrifugal blowers? I also understand that I should keep compression down to around 8:1? I got a 2 groove crank pulley the other day that is in excellent shape -- are all of these the same offsets when it comes to attaching/setting up a supercharger and/or power steering or a/c?

I believe it is still available.  It is a rebuilt VS57 with the bracket, idler, crank pully, and bonnet, for passenger side mounting.  He wants $1500 for those parts.

   You can run a Lincoln teapot, modified to work with the blower application. Or you could run a small double pumper or other mechanical secondary carburetor. I don't believe anybody builds a specific carb for the Y. Something in the 600 or smaller cfm range will work on a 292 blow thru. Be careful with the passenger side application for a passenger car, I think it may require moving the generator to work. Also check for hood clearance on 57 up, although I don't think that'll be an issue in a 55 or 56. You can run 8.5 to 1 with 6 lbs or so, you'll have to run premium, or an octane additive.
