This is my first post here, and I think it's a little basic, but I just can not find a 100% reliable source.
I have a '74 Galaxie 500 (made in Brasil) with an Y-Block 292.
The issue is that I'm having a little coolant leack on the freeze plug just under the Nº5 cylinder. I need to know what size of freeze plug do I have to buy to replace mine. The car is my daily driver, so i fixed the leack with epox cement, but it's only untill i find new plugs.
The fact the engine block is made in Brasil can change the plug size?
Thanks.
Túlio.

Tulio, if the heads are normal y block style with stacked intake ports than i have used 23mm plug in rear intake water hole near distributor. I dont know what old plug size was but often some imperial sizes go obsolete. Curious if you say made in Brasil if the heads are windsor style with evenly spaced exhaust ports?? regards bill.

Bill,
The heads are the usual for an Y Block. Two central exits, and one on each end of the head. A friend of mine has a '58 Fairlane with a 292, and the exhaust manifolds are just as mine.
About the plugs, the closest thing I can find has 44,77 mm, and I think it's too big.
I'm afraid of pulling the old plug off and end with no plug to install.
When I did the engine, I ordered the cam, the timing chain, plugs, and pistons/rings from Summit.
To order just the plugs, the mail and taxes will cost more than the plugs itself, but maybe I will end doind that.
Thanks.
