Fabing up a solid mount for the T-5 swap in my Tbird... it's about as much work as modifying one of the rubber/metal co-molded for the Mustang boyz with a T-5 swap... mine would be cleaner but should I be concerned about the loss of vibration dampening? 

Front mount and side "steady mounts" will be new.

Any thoughts on what I should expect in "feel"?

I'm no expert, but I think "feel" is the least of your worries. How about stress cracks? The front mount allows for vibrations as well as the "steady rests (Bird??). The rear will not. Seems to me something will crack.



The feel will probably drive you bananas.

I'm in the same boat as Paul. No expert but I'm thinking that it might result in cracks. I'm thinking that if you're going to solid mount one point, do the rest. Can you not fit some sort of rubber mount?

Thanks fellas... I was concerned so I asked.  The solid mount was simple and I didnt have to alter existing holes in the existing x-member.  I'll take heed, however, and adapt one that the 60's Stanger's use... no biggie.

Here is the crossmember I made for my bird.

Even tho it is for an AOD.

The mustang mount shown is just a simple local parts store over the counter model, but later upgraded to a more stout urethane model from summit or the like..

That looks great and nicely detailed.  Looks like for me I'll just be relocating the bolt slots in my existing x-member, and add a 1/2" spacer to the HYPER-FLEX ™  polyurethane mount sold by ENERGY SUSPENSION's. Prolly add a backing plate to give the bolt holes/slots a little extra holding surface/girth.
