I am starting to install my Granada disc brakes.I have the add-on power brake booster and dual master cylinder installed and plumbed.Can anyone who has done this swap tell me if you had to relocate the frame brackets where the flex and steel line meet?The flex hose off the caliper points forward and the brackets are behind the A-arms.I was hoping to use off the shelf new flex hoses as they are all the same from about 72-78 on most Ford products.THANKS

I remove all the old front lines and make new steel lines and bring them forward along inside of frame to front of the springs then over the frame to sit as the original Granada hoses did sit using brake line clips (many or the hot rod builders use insulated clips for same purpose). For the distribution block on drivers side, the 55's had a different distribution block than the 56's. I use the 55 distribution block to connect all the front brake lines together and bolt it to the frame in same place as the 55's had. The threaded holes are there already by the top of the drivers side top a-arm.



I use the salvaged holding brackets with c-clip from the donor Granada to hold the hoses in place in their new forward position and hook a light spring with an insulated clamp around the hose from the backing plate to prevent the hose from tangling around the sway bar. I have never done this with the engine in place as it could be a little tough.



I use the hoses from a 74 Mustang II as they are about 1.5" longer than the Granada hoses Raybestos number BH36743 these have the 3/8x24 thread female end instead of the 7/16X24 female as the Granada has. The Granada hoses will work, just the extra length makes the installation easier and 3/8x24 is standard 3/16 brake line fittings not the oversize one Ford originally used.



For the rear brakes I just plug the hole in the distribution block which went to the front brakes with a 3/8x24 brake plug fitting and run a line up to the proportioning valve.

Thanks Marv!I have an empty engine compartment which certainly does make it easier to rerun lines.You dont happen to have a couple extra hose brackets off a Granada  or similar that would work do you?

You can find them on Mavericks, Pintos, Comets.

They are bolted on by a 5/16 self threading bolt.

I used Earl's hoses and fittings on my 54. I ran them from the stock frame brackets. If Interested, I have the numbers.

Hello Paul! I can see how the hoses would work in stock position IF they came straight up instead of facing forward.I assume with the Earl's hoses a banjo fitting is used allowing the hose to go up instead of forward.Were you able to hook up to the existing 3/16 steel lines?Appreciate it if you could post the #'s and it would likely help others doing this swap.I just looked through some suppliers who sell  Earls and I cant figure out the listings so if you can tell me the #s you used it would really help.Thanks

  

Yes, the Earls parts require a banjo fitting. Here is the number and parts I used. Up to the stock brackets, I used regular 3/16 hard lines. If I remember correctly, the adapter had the groove for the keeper at the bracket.



Earl's parts and numbers:



#3 hose - I used 16 inch, 15 might have been better so measure yours.

Adapter - 3/16 line to AN3 # 989543

Banjo (7/16 bolt) #997634

Banjo bolt (7/16-24) # 977522

I used to get electric ones from a CVA member however he has quit.

I am using the pressure switch. When I made up the new lines form the dual master I put in the block for the switch in the lines. It doesn't matter whether you use the front or rear line.
