Fellas- I've got a problem I was wondering if anyone may have encountered before- I bought a PCV kit with the aluminum adapter plate & PCV valve from CASCO. It utilizes the straight 1/2" Ford PCV valve. I've also installed an ACE finned valley cover. The trouble is, due to the location of the PCV boss on the cover, I have clearance issues w/ the intake when using the straight style PCV valve. I believe I can make it all work if I can find a 1/2" PCV valve that has a 90 degree nipple. I spent a fruitless hour this afternoon at NAPA rummaging through boxes of valves- Does anyone know of a specific application that uses the style I need? (All the GM valves use a smaller ID hose, so that's out) ??? Thanks /Duck

Alright then, let's try it this way; Would it be detrimental to just "neck everything down" and use a smaller I.D. size setup utilizing the GM PCV valve?

Duck, with out being able to see what you have it is hard to say. Can you just add a 45 or 90 degree fitting and still use the supplied valve?

Glen- I wish it could be that simple. I've only approximately 2 1/2" of space between the shoulder of the valve and a big brass multi-tap vacuum fitting in the back of the intake. It would almost have to be a 90 degree valve, as I don't have the height required to put a fitting in the line in that little amount of space- (at least none of the fittings I have or have ever seen) I know this seems a relatively small issue, but It's looking like I can't use the 1/2" valve provided with the kit- I think I need a plan B... *EDITED TO ADD* I believe I'll just convert everything to the GM set up- The 3/8" valve is the same one used on a SBC, so it sould handle whatever my 312 will throw at it. Thanks for the help Glen, I appreciate it...

Duck: I seem to remember some mopars in the late '60s with right angle pcvs. Don't remember the sizes. I know you looked at the valves in stock at NAPA, maybe you can look in their book (if they have one) at the pictures of the valves. They may have one available that you need, but don't carry it in stock.

I don't know if this might help but some Motorcraft & Ford PCV valves come with plastic nipples that go over the end that will make it a 90. D9ZZ-6A666-A (Ford) or EV98B (Motorcraft) might be what your looking for.

Duck: I just looked at my supply of odd pcvs, I found one that is 90 degree, the end that plugs into a grommet appears to be 1/2" and the hose end looks to be 3/8. It is AC # CV761C if it is in the right box.

Thanks John (& fellas)- When I finally accepted the fact that I had no choice but to use a GM valve (and 3/8" hose) + found a slick 1/2" to 3/8" straight adapter, everything finally fell into place. I've only a few loose ends to tie up and it SHOULD be ready to fire- I decided to hold off for warmer weather, though- I'm stoked.....  /Duck

Cool. In case you ever need an application, my 88 Firebird with 305 TBI uses a 90 degree valve.
