I Bought a set of 7/16" ARP head bolts with washers (I assume they are 180,000 lb. tensile strength). According to their catalog torque specs. they should be torqued to 58 ft/lbs with moly lube. Is this correct? Also, do they need to be cycled 5 times like their rod bolts do? Thanks.

The moly lube torque value does sound correct as those values are generally lower than the torque values with oil. If using the moly lube, then be sure to also use it under the bolt heads and on the washers. I still prefer using oil on the head bolts myself and using the higher torque values. As far as cycling the head bolts, I would consider once being sufficient and that's more for the purpose of insuring that the threads work cleanly and the bolts do not feel squeemish when being torqued to spec.

While on this subject of torquing the ARP studs, how do you tighten the studs in the block? Are they left hand tight or is there a torque spec to tighten in the block? One of those things that will bother me if I don't ask.

Fordy Guy (3/24/2010) ...how do you tighten the studs in the block?If using studs, I install them finger tight only. If the studs are torqued in place during their intial install they will be cocked against the lower threads and when tightened with the heads in place they will not draw up against the threads in the block properly.

Is LocTite ever recommended when installing OEM studs (rocker shaft/valve cover, intake manifold, oil pan, etc.)?
