I've been gathering the parts needed to install a T5 transmission in my 56 Victoria. I would like to keep the cost down and retain my original flywheel & 10" pressure plate. Does anybody know what 10" clutch disc will work with this setup or where I can get one? Thanks Dave

I ended up using one from NAPA. Application was for a 80 Bronco 300 6cyl. Part# RCF4184. Downside was it was a Chinese part, but it seems to work OK for now. I think they list more than 1 so maybe you can find at least one made in Mexico.

I don't think you will find one not made in China at any of the chain outlets. I recently tried. Do a google search on clutches, Carolina clutch has some made in the states and Canada along with others US suppliers, thats the only way I know how to get one from the states.

I appreciate the reply Dan about the 80 Bronco clutch. This gives me something to go by. I just hope I can find a quality one because it looks like it is going to be quite a job to pull and reinstall this transmission. In fact when I measure under there it's hard to believe that it will even fit. Thanks again. Dave

The T5 input is 10 spline as is the Y Block manual tranny but the width of the splines is different. Been too long to remember the part number but believe it was a clutch disc for a 90 model Mustang with a V8. Ask for that at the auto parts store and measure the disc. You are so right about it being a tight fit! It is doable, tho, and well worth the effort.

Thanks for the input Tom on the clutch disc. I am now even more confused about the tranny working for me. I just got done sizing it up and not happy with what I'm seeing. I measured the tranny shifter location, drilled a hole in the tunnel and poked a small awl up through the carpet and I'm hitting the front edge of the seat. I'm a short person so I need the seat up quite close. I might have to reconsider and just change to a more modern 3 speed which would probably require the same clutch disc that you recommend. Thanks again Tom. Dave

You can put a S10 tailhousing on a T5 and it moves the shifter forward. Search the net. lots of info on this swap. Heres one. Ive done this to my trans. Its not to hard a job. Dave, I am tall enough to always have the seat all the way back so did not have a problem w/ location of the shifter. Believe me the T5 conversion is worth all of the trouble. The mechanic (actually a retired mechanical engineer) who fabbed my tranny mount installed the tranny while I was at work. Said the stab was REAL tight. Car was on a lift and tranny on a tall tranny jack. He said he stuck the input shaft thru the bell housing, hung the pressure plate, throw out brg and clutch plate over the input shaft and stabbed the input into the bushing. Then bolted the pressure plate. Had the sparkplugs out as I recall to roll the engine as needed. He thought this was easier than cutting a large piece of the tunnel and making a flange piece to reattach it. You will probably need to fab a new tranny cross member, get a longer drive shaft made and probably a speedometer cable. STILL very well worth it!

Dave, I used the Mummert adapter plate, http://www.ford-y-block.com/t5in-cars-bird.htm. Then looked thru an online store for Hurst shifters to find the look and fit I wanted.

I did my T5 conversion in a 57 Ford. Like you said its a tight fit, but it did work in mine with a couple alterations. I'm short too and I need the seat forward as well. I used a 80 Must trans mount, but had to cut about 1/2 inch out of the mount & reweld it so the trans wouldn't hit the floorboard. For the shifter arm I used one from an old Hurst shifter. After the trans was mounted in its final position I could take the shifter arm and pivot it forward on the stub that comes out of the trans so it would clear the seat before I drilled the holes in the shifter arm. The conversion is worth all the trouble. Hope this helps.
