I'm getting ready to rebuild my 312 and had planned on replacing the original fuel pump with a early 70s FE pump since I no longer have vacuum wipers. Then it occurred to me that the heater control valve is also vacuum operated. Question is, can manifold vacuum be used or would this cause the heat to vary with different amounts of vacuum as the load on the engine changes? Has anyone had success doing this in the past? Thanks, Mike

Actually, the vacuum boost fuel pump was an option back then.  Many cars came from the factory with single pumps.  The heaters worked fine.  The wipers were a different story.

Thanks John. I hoped that was the case. I really want to clean up the looks of the engine and a new pump is part of the plan. Mike
