I'm sure this has happened before.57 Ford Custom hood cable either broke or came unglued from its moorings. How do you get the hood released? One site said remove a rubber plug from inside under dash. Is this behind the heater box, thus it needs to be removed?

the plug is in the center of the car on the top of the transmission hump, where it meets the cowl. re move the plug and pry the lever side waysafter you get it fixed, agood idea is to leave a small cable or wire hanging down by the bell housing, so it can be reached from under the car. hope this helps tom

If its anything like a 55/57TBirdwith the mechanism extending across the firewall, you may be able to reach the piece going across from underneath on the passenger side (drivers side may work too?????). Put a pair of vise grips on the rod and turn it.

Paul: Passenger and Bird are not even close to being the same design.
