In the '57 shop manual it says that undercoating the driveshaft will cause vibration due to it becoming unbalanced.  Should I just paint it instead???  - john

Any uneven coatings on a driveshaft will throw it out of balance. Just paint it and you will be fine. It's not necessary or reccomended to undercoat a driveshaft. ~~~~~~Ron
