Does anybody know the proper location for the rubber seals at the bottom of the inner fenders. The couple I had still in my car were stapled to the inside of the inner fender and were tucked under the fender well to the outside of the frame. Is this correct? Do they install on the engine side or wheel side of the fender well, and do they go to the inside or outside of the frame. Thanks, Mike

Mike-I dont know if you are aware the seals are available repro from Tee-Bird for one source.How are you going to reattache them?Never could figure out how they stapled them new.

Mark, I have been wondering that too. I may look into pop rivets. Will let you know when I figure it out. Mike

When I redid my Bird, I took a pair of pliers that were the right width and used them to form staples. I used stainless wire, though any wire would work. I then pushed the new staples through the original holes, bent them over and hammered them shut.

I bought new seals for my '56 Customline, but didn't have the patience to try and force aftermarket staples through the old holes in the inner fenders. I used aluminum pop rivets and they worked fine. Also used aluminum pop rivets on the upper radiator air dam seals. They worked for me. Rono.

Does anyone know how they stapled these when they were new?I cant figure out how they used soft staples through sheetmetal.The other thought I had was automotive weather stripping adhesive.That stuff seems to bond well to clean rubber and metal surfaces.
