So is there really NO WAY to use the stock wheels? The only reason they don't fit is because the center hub for the rim is to small right? So is there no way to like, expand the hub area of the rim? maybe a space could be used, or??? I'm just curious bc i want to keep the stock hub caps, but can't find any mid-late 70s 14' disc rims... All help would be greatly appreciated.

I think someone mentioned using spacers on this forum once before. Do a search for disc brakes. I have given up on finding 70's stock steel wheels. They may be out there but you will have to search all the wrecking yards in your area to find them. Several places like Stockton wheels make new steel wheels but I'm not sure about using the dog dish hubcaps on them. You would have to ask each company. Chuck in NH

Hi William,  You should be able to use your stock wheels with disc brakes.  I've got a '57 T-Bird with the stock 14" wheels, however they are a different wheel from the '57 passenger car wheel.  No slots and different offset, I think.  I bought a disc brake kit from Thunderbird One in NC.  It has '76 Ford Granada front hubs/ rotors, but they have been turned down a little to fit inside the small hole in the center of the T-Bird wheel.  If you need the inside diameter of the center hole of a T-Bird wheel to compare to yours, let me know.  There are a lot of companies that sell disc brake kits, but T-Birds One is very popular.  Good luck, Nick Brann - K.C., MO

I used the stock wheels(15 inch) on my 56 with disc brakes.I took the rotors(Granada) to a machine shop and the stock rim.There is lots of meat on the rotor hub and I had them turned down so they would fit through the stock rim.On mine I think it was about 1/'4-3/8 'diameter too large for the stock rim centre.Now I know the machinist pressed the rotors off prior to machining and he used a grinder type machine as opposed to a lathe to turn them down.Hope this helps maybe.

I put Granada discs on my 54 and don't have a rubbing problem with 14 inch Crager SS's. Had reversed rims before with no problems. For the center hole, it depends what hubs you have on - some can be turned down so the stock wheels will fit. The Granada/Monarch/Versilles hubs can be turned down.

what about torinos,cougars,if i remember right most were 14s in the 70s.most had discs.

I use the 14-inch Magnum 500s from a '74 Torino on my '58 Ford with 11-inch discs and no rubbing problems.

Yeah, that's because the rims you guys are using are 70's style. The style is totally different. Being that the discs have a large hub and whatnot, the centerhub part of the rim is larger. This is why torino,elite,ltd,,cougar,maverick.... basically any 70s ford or mopar.. their rims fit. But locating these rims are hard. I'm starting to debate just getting some 15" smoothies

First of all, that hubcap is a 57 ford car, not T bird as stated in the caption.  The only disk brake setup that allows you to use orginal 50's 14 in wheels in the Granada unit.  The others due to rotor size take either 15's or 14's from later model cars. This topic has been covered over and over on the 57 ford site.
