I know a few of you out there have 'birds so I figured I would post here as well as some other sites. I took my control arms in to have new bushings pressed and the shop just called and said they gauled the threads beyond repair on one of the upper shafts. I have looked through all of my parts catalogs and it seems that the shaft is not being reproduced. A check on Ebay did not prove fruitful, either.

If anyone has one, or has a lead to find one I would greatly appreciate it.

Also, the thought of having it turned and re-threaded passed through my mind but I don't think this is the greatest idea. Any other ideas on saving this one?

Thanks

M S:

Possible repairs for your shaft would be having the thread area welded up, turned, and threaded.  Also, a new one could be fabricated using the old one as a sample.

I have another solution which you may be interested in.  I have a NOS shaft in what's left of the original Ford box, with the three large dished washers, two lock washers, and two nuts.  It was originally a kit Ford #B4A-3047-B, but the rubber bushings are not there.  $100 + shipping from East Central Indiana.

Dennis Carpenter has the shaft you want - I think the one I bought a couple of years ago was like $40 or so. The 55/56 passenger cars used the same shaft.
